DERMAL FILLER DISSOLVING

It isn’t uncommon for new patients to enquire about dissolving their filler to attain a more subtle and natural appearance.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase. This enzyme naturally occurs in our skin but can be injected at higher concentrations in order to rapidly remove unwanted filler.

KEY TREATMENT AREAS

DR BERRY'S ADVICE

HEALING AND RECOVERY

PRP therapy can be used on the face, particularly around the eyes, mouth and nose, the backs of the hands, scars and all over the body, more commonly the décolletage and even the knees to give skin a more youthful and radiant appearance.

PRP can be applied to the forehead, upper eyelid/lower eyelid area to reduce wrinkles, and to the nasal-labial folds and marionette lines to provide volume to this area. Results can be seen within weeks of the procedure and continue to improve for several months to a year. People who are suffering from skin diseases such as SLE, allergies, porphyria, cancer, severe metabolic and systemic disorders, abnormal platelet function, critical thomobocytopemia, haemodynamic instability, anti-coagulation therapy and underlying sepsis cannot undergo Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy.

Since the PRP facelift is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves only injections, recovery time is minimal. You will not have any scars because we do not make any incisions; we only use needles. Also, since the substance used in the procedure derives from the patient’s own blood, there is very little risk of allergic reaction or abnormal response. The patient can return home right after the procedure. You may experience redness, which should go away after a few hours.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Vampire Facelift® uses tiny amounts of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, combined with growth factors and unipotent stem cells taken from your blood, to provide a custom-designed procedure for restoring your natural beauty.

For many years scientists have known that unipotent stem cells lie dormant in the skin, waiting to provide the building blocks for healing and repair when we sustain an injury such as a burn or cut.

Until recently, doctors had no easy way to stimulate those stem cells to regenerate new tissue. By utilising the platelet-derived growth factors (PRP) from a patient’s own blood, we now have the ability to activate the patient’s stem cells to grow new, younger-looking skin.

The Vampire Facelift® takes the cosmetic rejuvenation process to a higher level

The activation of platelet cells (PRP) to release their growth factors is an essential part of the process and is done by using methods that are natural to the body.

The best way to visualise PRP is to remember that when the skin is healing itself, for example from a cut, a yellow substance is produced beneath the scab as part of the repair and renewal process.

This substance contains what is known as the ‘fibrin matrix’. Effectively our own natural PRP, it holds all the growth factors in place, which then activate the nearby stem cells to repair and produce new skin to heal the cut.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will it take to recover from a PRP treatment?

The actual procedure of injecting the PRP involves the use of only topical anaesthetic meaning that most patients feel comfortable returning to their normal activites not long afterwards. It is important to be aware that due to there being many injections at the treatments sites, the areas can look slightly swollen, bumpy and red post treatment and mild effects can last for a couple of days so it is best to have some time to recover.

Which areas can be treated?

PRP therapy can be used on the face, particularly around the eyes, mouth and nose, the backs of hands, scars and all over the body, more commonly the decolletage and even the knees to give skin a more youthful and radiant apperance.

Does the treatment hurt?

The treatment does involve injections so it can be a little uncomfortable but topical anaesthetic is used to minimise any discomfort and most patients find the treatment very tolerable with many experiencing no pain at all.

What does the procedure involve?

After a consultation with Dr Berry, she will draw your blood. This is done in a similar way to when you have your blood taken for testing at the doctor's office. The blood will then be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet plasma from the red blood cells using one of the branded systems described. Any makeup on the skin will be removed using a wipe, and antiseptic will be applied to the injection site. A topical local anaesthetic will then be applied to the skin of the injection site for 30 minutes. The PRP will then be injected into the skin, with aseptic technique, in the desired area using a very fine needle. Injections will be given multiple times in multiple locations in order to give an overall improvment to the area. The treatment usually takes 60 minutes. It is very important that patients eat and drink a lot of fluids before attending their appointment. This will enable the blood to be withdrawn more easily.

What are the risks and complications with PRP treatment?

There are few side effects associated with PRP treatment. Immediatley after the procedure, you can expect some brusing, swelling and redness at the injection sites. You may also experience some tenderness and pain at the injection sites. However, any side effects should dissipate within a few days following the procedure. Makeup can be applied from the next day.

What results can I expect?

Results give that elusive glow of youth. This treatment is very popular with celebrities as you will have very natural looking results.
